My little man did have his PT (physical therapy) appt on Tuesday and his 18 mo old check up on Wednesday though. His PT wants to get him orthotics to fit in his shoes because of the pronation of his legs - basically the ball on the inside of his ankles turn in and down thus causing him to put weight on a part of his foot that isn't meant to be weight bearing. The orthotics will help straighten him out and help him be more stable while walking, rather than looking like he's had a tad too much to drink :).
His doc says he looks good, still growing at 50th percentile for his size but he's been growing steadily at that so she's not worried. She is concerned about his legs bending in so she's referring us to a pediatric ortho doctor to have him checked for something called tibial torsion. She wants to rule it out. She got his blood work back for the genetic tests she ran to ensure he doesn't have a chromosome abnormality called Digeorge's syndrome and he doesn't, so that's great. She's a bit concerned about him and social issues so we're keeping an eye out for how he interacts with other kids. According to daycare he definitely plays with the other kids and he's rough too lol. Figures the tiny kid is rough haha.
So yea, another specialist, because we don't see enough of those already. Between him and his sister we keep a lot of doctors pretty busy.
His sister is doing pretty well on her chore and behavior charts, she seems to really like the new system, even if she struggles with some of the things she's supposed to be doing. It seems every day "doing what mom & dad say without arguing" never seems to get checked lol. Shocking. But she's getting there. she's been going to Karate a couple times a week and has a few more weeks on her free trial. We are hoping to be able to get a YMCA membership where she can take martial arts through them for cheaper because regular lessons get pretty expensive. We shall see.
As for me - last Sunday I had a lovely OCD incident at the gym. I wanted an even numbered locker, and they were only on the bottom. Of course I have monocular vision which means horrible depth perception. In a dark locker room - that smells disaster. Slammed my forehead right into the corner of the locker. Saying it hurt is a huge understatement. I am very prone to turning red at the least little scratch but this bashing of my head caused this:
Lovely isn't it. The red scratch in the middle and a huge bruise (thankfully not funny colored but still painful) stayed around for about half the week so it looked like I got assaulted by a spatula. But thankfully it is gone now doesn't hurt anymore. And now I've resigned myself to using an odd numbered locker to save my face from further torture.
As for diet - I've been doing pretty good most days. I did get to gorge myself on an Indian Buffet before starting a Biggest Loser competition on Friday with some co-workers :). Not exactly low-carb / diabetic friendly, but one meal I'll be fine. I wanted to be sure to bulk up before our initial weigh in :).
I've been swimming a lot lately, I love swimming so it's the logical choice for me for exercise if i need to do it everyday - especially since it is low impact. On Friday I decided to try running in the water. That was interesting. You ever played with one of those water snake toys as a kid?
Yea that's what my belly fat felt like while running. Really weird sensation as it moved up and down in the water lol. Hopefully it was a good thing to get jostled all around.
So I weighed in for Biggest Loser and now the "fun" begins. I decided to cut out the diet coke, which won't be easy but will let me get rid of some water weight. I have to get my hubby to take a "before" pic of me. I have one that my daughter took but I don't know what she was doing while taking the pic but it's all fuzzy. Can't wait to shrink and win the contest and then shrink some more :). I have about 100 lbs to lose. Gonna take a looooong time.
Saturday wasn't very exciting, all I did was grocery shop and take care of my daughter who was sick with a fever. I did get to catch up on my NCIS episodes though.
Today is Mother's Day and I got an awesome handmade card from my daughter and roses and chocolate (shame on him lol) from hubby and he even made up a song and dance for me that was hilarious and adorable. Of course my daughter didn't want to be outdone so she sang me a poem about how great I am too :). My son just gave me snuggles and yelled for milk lol.
I did get lots of cooking done today, with the help of hubby. He was my sous chef and chopped all my veggies. I'll share recipes below :)
Romano Chicken - I hate Swiss so I used provolone. I also used crushed pork rinds for the breading but probably won't do that again - too salty. Overall it was good, but just too salty for my tastes. Next time with regular breadcrumbs I think it'll be a lot better.
Hummus Chicken - This was pretty good - if you like hummus you'll probably like it. I did tweak a bit by putting salt & pepper on the chicken before the hummus and using red & yellow mini bell peppers cause that's all I had. I used roasted red pepper hummus but you could use whatever kind you like best.
Low Carb Zuchinni "Pasta" - This was pretty good, I'm gonna try it tomorrow again with some pesto sauce cause I think that would be another alternative.
Alaska Salmon Bake w/Pecan Crunch Coating - I have all the stuff but haven't made it yet. Sounds good though.
Amish Breakfast Casserole - This is really good, I'm pretty sure I'll have to hide this from hubby to ensure I get some. And from the looks of it it will freeze well and be good for leftovers. I made it just as described pretty much, just used Sriracha hot sauce for that ingredient.
That's it! Happy Mother's Day!
